Week 7 PLE

i. Technology is able to teach students dynamically because, at this point in history, it is not fully integrated into society. Technology exists, and is a huge part of our lives and of the learning process in schools. However, new technologies are coming out. This is able to amaze and keep a student entertained while learning important principles at the same time. It reminds the student that learning can be fun. This is great because many students can easily get bored or discouraged by school.

ii. Technology may detract from student learning because they may not be focusing on what they need to learn. Also, many technologically savvy things have more than one application on them, and may interrupt steady learning. For example, graphing calculators are extremely beneficial in a math class, and most of the time necessary. However, a student may not learn because he is distracted by the games on the calculator.

iii. I think that the computer, as well as the internet, is the most useful tool for learning. Now students can type papers or type more in depth and helpful notes during class. The internet has soo many resources for every kind of learning. Research papers are more easy to to write with more accessible information. In calculus class, the newer version of graphing calculators allow one to solve problems more accurately and efficiently. Google documents are amazing. They make study groups very dynamic. One can share a file with multiple peers and they can all add their thoughts to the document.
